Re: Looking for BCPL Compiler Kit.
I am looking for a BCPL compiler kit, as described in the book
'BCPL: The Language and Its Compiler' by Richards and
Whitby-Strevens.
As far as I know, the kit involves a BCPL compiler written in
BCPL and Intcode (or OCODE), an Intcode assembler written in
BCPL, some library routines, and some notes and specifications
of Intcode.
The kit may be entirely in a textual ASCII format. I do not
think that there are any binary image files involved here.
I am not looking for a BCPL compiler for any specific machine,
but i would love to hear about experiences with BCPL. If you
have implementation notes written up, or if you have any
BCPL routines you would like to share, I would be happy to
receive them!
For the uninitiated, BCPL is a systems programming language
created by Martin Richards of Cambridge University. It was
designed to be a portable language and has been implemented
on many different types of computers.
Thanks. I hope to hear something soon!
Please send any replies here. - Sean
