First, thank you to all who responded to my plea for help. Now, for what happened... I was a little vague in my explanation of my problem: I have a single drive (512KE -- a dinosaur) machine and wanted to look at the contents of some other disks. I pressed CMD-E and _immediately_ was prompted for my system disk again. I reinserted it and was back to square one. I then tried "Eject" under the File menu with the same results. I also had tried dragging it to the Trash -- again, same preoblem. Finally out of desparation I decided to rebuild the desktop. It WORKED! I guess it was the WDEF virus about which I just recently found out. I have now downloaded Gate Keeper and will be using it consistently. Thanks again, Frank myers@eniac.seas.upenn.edu
