I would like to hear about anyone's experience with the program SPAMM from Bravo Technologies. SPAMM is a program that you put in your system folder and which preempts calls to SANE, replacing the calls with its own accelerated math functions. I received an advertisement from Bravo that quoted MacUser Lab reports as documenting 29% to 51% overall increases in speed for the MacPlus and SE and MacWorld Lab reports as logging accelerations ranging from 44% to 80%. Of course, this would only be with programs that make calls to SANE. I assume it would not benefit a word processing program, for example. The point, of course, is that if one uses a lot of math intensive programs, and if this program is really effective in speeding those up, then it is much cheaper than an accelerator board. The Bravo letter offered it for $49.95 + $5 shipping. MacConnection carries it for $48 and only $3 next day shipping, however. Thanks. --- Disclaimer: I have no connection with Bravo Technologies or MacConnection and am not promoting any of their services. --- -- Larry Riddle | riddle@mathcs.emory.edu PREFERRED Agnes Scott College | {decvax, gatech}!emory!riddle UUCP Dept of Math | riddle@emory.bitnet NON-DOMAIN BITNET Decatur, GA 30030 | (404) 371-6222 AT&T
