[comp.sys.mac] FullWrite 1.1

jfbrule@cmx.npac.syr.edu (Jim Brule) (05/04/89)

I just received my update to version 1.1, and have a warning (or is this
an "undocumented feature?")   :(

<flame on>

You must have your serial number ready when you install the update. If
not, and if you follow their directions regarding erasing your old
version before installing the new one, then you are locked out of
Fullwrite, and of course, all your Fullwrite documents.

I don't mind having to verify my serial number, but (a) they didn't
take the time to print it anywhere on their letter to me, a registered
user (instead, just "Serial Number on file"), and (b) they didn't warn
me that I was going to need it in order to update it. If they trust me
enough to mail me the disk unasked for, then they ought to handle this
"copy protection" issue more favorably for their registered users!

<flame off>

Yeah, it was a pain. I loaded it in and set it up, then had to go digging
into the files for the original disks. I can imagine how happy someone who's
update was at work and who's disks were at home would be.

I *did* try to use the serial number on the update disk ("On File") but
FullWrite didn't accept that for some reason.

While this is the same installation procedure they required for 1.0, they
could have made it either less painful or better documented...

Bookends. What a wonderful thought.

So what's new in version 1.1 of FullWrite? Faster? Bugs fixed? New
Features? ...

I didn't know there was an update to FWP in the works, much less available.
Can anyone shed any light on this?

fons@uxh.cso.uiuc.edu (Paul Fons) (01/20/90)

  I have a copy of FullWrite professional and it is only version 1.0 . Does
anyone know how I can upgrade to 1.1? I can send in the original disks
but am curious to know if there is a upgrade patch program or the like.
Thanks for any help.
