Every now and then, one of my high density disks will get a bad block on it. When I try to reformat them on my disk drive (FDHD), it spits out the disk saying 'Bad Format' during the verify pass. I now have 4 high density disks which will not format. The format program on another competing computer system (I won't mention the name but it has 3 letters :^) will simply mark the bad blocks and allow the disk to be used. Is there any program on the market (free or otherwise) which can mark the bad blocks so that I can use the bad disks? Note that most of the time (the woefully inadequate) Disk First Aid does not even *find* the bad blocks, and it is effectively useless as far as my experience goes. -- francis@pawl.rpi.edu - Francis Schima
