The files with a .Z extension are unix 'compress'ed.

You simply 'uncompress' them.

+---------------

comp.sources.misc (and comp.sources.unix) archives are usually stored in a
compressed form via the Unix "compress" program. There are also versions for
VMS, Mis-DOS, and even the Mac. However, the uncompressed form is a Unix
"shar" file which is designed to be processed by Unix /bin/sh.

The uncompressed and unshar'ed file includes a binhexed Stuffit file with the
screen fonts. The PostScript code is part plain ASCII and part uuencoded
(another Unix-ism). Sorry, but comp.sources.misc etc. are intended as Unix
newsgroups; things are distributed in a form useful under Unix (and the
archivers would have my *ss if I violated this; it's happened a few times).

Maybe someone could repack the useful parts of the submission (i.e. leave out
the Ventura Publisher width files, etc.) for the Mac?
