I have made this suggestion over the net to Apple at least TWICE before in the past. This can't be that hard to add and the way that it is now is VERY UNFRIENDLY! DO IT! Tony Jacobs * Center for Engineering Design * U of U * t-jacobs@cs.utah.edu

But seriously folks, things like this should be possible in the System 7 Finder if things are released as they've been advertised. Of course, no one is quite sure what's going to wind up in System 7.0 now; the latest list of features released by Apple seem ridiculously small in comparison to the original, and it seems likely to me that the new list just touches on the high points (and leaves an "out" for focusing resources away from less essential parts if it becomes necessary.) Personally, I'd much rather see a button in that dialog called "Backup". This would copy over duplicates, but only if the source version has a later date than the target version. That would be an extremely small code change and would deliver a function that's both generally useful and widely comprehensible. Hopefully, the extensible Finder will let me do this myself. -- Tim Maroney, Mac Software Consultant, sun!hoptoad!tim, tim@toad.com These are not my opinions, those of my ex-employers, my old schools, my relatives, my friends, or really any rational person whatsoever.
