[comp.sys.mac] ResEdit 1.2 Weirdness

CXT105@psuvm.psu.edu (Christopher Tate) (02/03/90)

I have a couple of resource files that I created with ResEdit 1.2. They have
their resource type set to 'rsrc' and their creator set to 'RSED', as is
proper.

However, neither of them displays the ResEdit document icon in the Finder.
This situation persists even when I rebuild the desktop on the disk with
ResEdit on the same disk. Investigation shows that the ResEdit *application*
ICN# is correctly copied into the Desktop file, but not the document ICN#.

Meanwhile, all of my THINK C documents show the correct icons, and after
rebuilding the desktop, *all* of the THINK C ICN#'s are in the Desktop,
even the ones that I don't have documents for on my disk.

I tried fiddling with the 'bundle' and 'inited' bits in the ResEdit documents,
but to no avail. As it stands now, they are recognized as ResEdit files,
and double-clicking on them will launch ResEdit, but they simply will not
show the document icon.

I must admit I am mightily puzzled. Does anyone know what's going on here?
If it's any help, it's the version of ResEdit that was distributed with
THINK C 4.0.
