Yep! I have seen WDEF do the darndest things to MS Word 4.0. I am a software consultant and I have had several different calls disguised as strange MSW problems, which turn out to be WDEF viruses hangin' out on the hard disk!!!! - MikeB aka MIT Virus Buster

My MacWrite II would hang my mac whenever I tried to close a window or save a document. The problem was caused by the WDEF A virus which Disinfectant 1.6 found and repaired. No more problems. -rsvp
