[comp.sys.mac] How do I determine the interleaving of an already formated disk?

Well, maybe not . . . Here's a related question: Is there a utility that
will tell me what interleaving a disk that is already formated has? I.e.,
can I check whether the manufacturer formated my new disk correctly for my
configuration?

It is my experience that most HD formatting software will report the
interleave in use for a particular drive when run. If you boot off the
"utilities" or whatever disk that came with the HD, then proceed as if
you were going to re-format it, it should report to you the interleave
factor. It may be buried in some dialog somewhere, perhaps under a menu
like "Drive Parameters," but it should be there. I know that Rodime,
UniMac, Crate, and GigaCell software all have this feature; I would consider
it very likely that yours does, as well.
