[comp.sys.mac] Gatekeeper Aid

bh11+@andrew.cmu.edu (Braddock John Hathaway) (02/02/90)

Hi!

I've got Gatekeeper Aid installed on my system, and whenever I
try to set my Mac up as a server, I get the following message:

"Gatekeeper Aid encountered FCB expansion"

Why?

What server are you using?

It seems that this server is increasing the max number of open files.
To do that, it has to allocate more FCBs (file control blocks, or whatever).

A virus might probably use this method to sneak past GateKeeper and do some
Nasty Stuff(tm). (NB: To my knowledge, no virus has ever actually done this.)
