[comp.sys.mac] The IBM to Macintosh switch-over

ilja@gibson.ucr.edu (ilja bedner) (02/08/90)

I represent a large international hotel design firm that is
currently reviewing their computer systems. I am of the
opinion that the firm should begen to switch there system from a
IBM clone and a out-of-date mainframe system, to a Macintosh, LAN network
system. the current system does not meet the productivity standards of
firms president.

I wish to receive the following information:

a) Any information on the IBM to Apple switchover.
	(successes failures, etc)
b) Phone numbers and address of quality Apple sales representatives that
could do a Systems presentation ,and help create a viable update path for
the company. The President, and Chief Executive officers would be present
at the demonstration, and involved in all planning.
c) Any other information that Apple has on the IBM to Apple switch-over.
d) Any other Apple Macintosh information.
e) addresses and phone numbers of quality computer consultants.
f) Since the firm is involved in architecture and designing please
send me information on Macintosh CAD systems.
g) Information on IBM and Apple integration.

The Head Office is in the Santa Monica, California area, therefore please
send me names, phone numbers, and addresses for the Santa Monica
area.

Background on firm: The Firm has offices in Atlanta, Santa Monica, London,
plus small liason offices in other parts of the world.
The current computer systems include a out-of-date word processing
system, Basic/4 Mainframe system (20+ terminals), numerous IBM clones
(running mostly accounting, spreadsheet and data-base software),
and a mini-computer CAD system. Most of the hardware 5-10+ years old.
The system needs to be updated, and firm wants a productive system.
