Hi, Our research group has just acquired a MACIIcx (5M RAM + 40M HD). We already have several SUN SS1's (i.e. SPARKstation 1's) connected via a thin wire ethernet, running SUNOS 4.0.3 and NFS. In addition we have a laserwriter IINT hung off one of the SUN's serial ports. My question is this; is there some hardware/software combination which will allow the MACIIcx to talk to the laserwriter? We are also interested in achieving ftp like file transfers between the SUN's and MAC. Cost is a major constraint and so any pointers towards Public Domain software would be welcome. The sort of package we are hoping to find is an ethernet board to plug into the MAC (we've two free slots) coupled with PD software. NOTE that we are not running A/UX on our MAC. We've only just started receiving this newsgroup and know very little about MAC hardware/software. Consequently any help would be appreciated Please E-mail replies to me. I'll summarise to the net if enough interest. David Rainton (dr@eng.cam.ac.uk) Cambridge University Department of Engineering UK
