[comp.sys.mac] Is FEdit dead software? What are its strong points?

pollak@ac.dal.ca (02/14/90)

I've always heard good things about FEdit+ and seen it mentioned in many
of the "fix-up" tips given on the networt, so I decided to mailorder a
copy. It arrived inside a very unassuming plastic report cover with a
photocopied 44 page manual. What concerns me is that the address on the
registration card has been changed by hand to:

MacMaster Systems, 137 E. Fremont Ave, Suite 37, Sunnyvale CA

and the files on the version 1.07 disk shipped to me were:

DeskTop 862 Sun, Jul 27, 1986
Fedit Plus 67814 Sun, Jul 27, 1986

This brings 3 questions to mind.

1. Is this the current version of the program? Does the fact that the
distribution disk was created FOUR years ago mean that this a dead
program with no current support?

2. If it is currently supported, is the above address for MacMaster
Systems still correct?

3. If this program has not been updated in four years, what are the
features that set it apart from other sector editing utilities such as
MacTools, Symantec Tools and the upcoming Norton Utilities for the Mac?
Should people still be purchasing FEdit in the 1990's?

Send comments and information by Email and I will summarize.
