Sorry if this has been covered before..... Can a Mac print out to an HP Laserjet IIp with a Postscript cartridge? Or is it possible to drive the HP through s/ware drivers on the Mac? Thanks for any info on this. Imran Anwar

I cannot answer your first question, but my brother uses his Mac SE with the HP Laserjet IIP with very good results. He uses the MacPrint driver, which features a chooser-level driver and more than a megabyte worth of fonts. MacUser recently reviewed both MacPrint, and another driver named JetLink Express (Jan 1990, page 86). Although both of these drivers do basically the same thing (talk to a LaserJet), MacPrint handles fonts by using a variety of type sizes, whereas JetLink uses scaled fonts. One thing that the HP-IIP will not do (using the above mentioned drivers) is print anything postscript--such as the high quality output of Cricket Draw, Illustrator, or PageMaker. To print a full page of output from Excell or the database in Works, you will need more than the 512K of memory that the HP-IIP is shipped with. Rather than paying HP for an upgrade, you might want to look at the memory upgrades being offered by Pacific Page...you might be able to save quite a bit of money. -john- -- =============================================================================== John A.
