I posted a question about obtaining a modified laserprep file (LaserPrep v6.0 which contains AppleDict #70) that works with psfig. I received several reponses, mostly suggesting macps and its companion program prepfix. The version of the laserprep file that macps creates is not adequate. That just reproduces the original drawing on the laser printer. Psfig requires a even further modified laserprep that does some things like removing showpage and copy commands plus things that a postscript programmer (unlike myself) might be able to identify. (Essentially, I believe it must leave the actual placement and printing of the figure to psfig). I am still interested in an appropiately modified LaserPrep v6.0 (AppleDict #70) that works with psfig. (I already have LaserPrep6.0 that works with macps - but when used with psfig nothing ever prints!) :( However, Len Schwer (MICRO2.SCHWER@CRVAX.SRI.COM) offered the following temporary solution. I am now using an older version of the LaserWriter and LaserPrep, version 5.2, in the system folder (with names changed to avoid conflicts). Then when I want postscript to use with psfig, I select version 5.2 via the chooser (also remember to select PageSetUp). This works fine. Version 5.2 uses AppleDict #68 for which there is an appropiately modifed laserprep file available callod lprep68.pro (anonymous ftp from linc.cis.upenn.edu, psfig directory is one such source). Note that LaserWriter v5.2 is intended for system 6.0 so that this is a safe workaround. thanks again for the suggestions, Chris Chase chase@olympus.princeton.edu
