I'm looking for a Mac document processor that is like Frame Technology's FrameMaker. Specifically, I like the fact that Frame manipulates text objects (called textrect's) just like any other graphics object (e.g., textrect's are moved and resized just like rectangles or circles). Textrects just possess special abilities to format text (including style sheets). Any pointers to such a critter? -jwh John Hardin, MCC CAD Program | ARPA: hardin@mcc.com | Phone: [512] 338-3535 Box 200195, Austin, TX 78720 | UUCP: ...!cs.utexas.edu!milano!cadillac!hardin John Hardin, MCC CAD Program | ARPA: hardin@mcc.com | Phone: [512] 338-3535 Box 200195, Austin, TX 78720 | UUCP: ...!cs.utexas.edu!milano!cadillac!hardin

About two years ago Frame "announced" that they were working on a version of FrameMaker for the Macintosh. Do I remember correctly? Did they ever release it? Did they change their mind and drop development? Will it be available RSN? -- Herb Poppe NCAR INTERNET: hpoppe@ncar.ucar.edu (303) 497-1296 P.O. I find that Ready, Set, Go! is very much like FrameMaker in this and many other respects. You might also look into Quark XPress. (Ive been using RSG for years, but I'm disappointed that lately they've been trading off quality of implementation and ease of use for features at an ever-increasing rate.) - David D. Did they ever release it? There was a photo of the screen of FrameMaker in MacLeak about 2 or 3 months ago. According to my Frame dealer (Quest Research in Bloomington MN), the priorities at Frame were release 3.0, X release 3.0, the NeXT release, Mac release, then maybe a 386 version. Look for the Mac release sometime this summer or fall (I hope) at about $995 (an educated guess). Frame is kind of neat on a Sun, but it requires a lot of CPU horsepower... -john- -- =============================================================================== John A.
