Ergotron makes a nice gizmo called "Mouse Cleaner 360", which consists of a ball covered with Velcro hooks, a pad of Velcro loops and a bottle of cleaning fluid. You put the fluid on the ball, put the ball in the mouse (in place of the regular ball) and shimmy the mouse around on the mat for a while. Works fine for me and costs < $15... Hope this helps...
