an update to the SuperLaserSpool print-spooler was just
released and uploaded (see press release in comp.newprod)
and my question "what's significant about this?" was answered
	as follows:

There's two important things with respects to SLS 2.02:

#1 - HP DeskWriter compatibility

#2 - SLS trade up offer to SuperSpool owners

I'm sure that you've seen the messages concerning the lack of a spooler for
the DeskWriter. Well...now there is one and for those who have either SLS
1.x or 2.0/2.01 or owners of SuperSpool can either update, upgrade, or trade
up to SLS 2.02 for DeskWriter support.

the SLS 2.02 files are also on RASCAL in directory:

and will be sent to the archives at SUMEX and SIMTEL20 and
the comp.binaries.mac moderator to consider for archiving and
further distribution on BITnet and USEnet

I'll include the text of the README file which accompanies the
	SLS INIT/CDEV and DA below.

I have no connection with SuperMac other than as a customer.
If you like to express your appreciation to SuperMac for making
software upgrades available to me for distribution and for the
great job Fabian is doing in providing support to the net,
you might want to send email to Michael McConnell, President and
COO of SuperMac at MCCONNELL.M@applelink.apple.com or call
him at (408) 245-2202 - personally, I wished more companies
would jump over their lawyers and follow this example (well,
some do already, but way too few)

				Cheers, ---Werner

PS: please note that the HP-printer driver is not included; if someone
at HP would give me permission and send it to me, I'd make it
available also (I forget the names of HP-people who helped
develop this printer and who have posted here before - but
you know where to find me :-)

WHAT'S DIFFERENT FROM VERSION 2.01df?

SuperLaserSpool 2.02df also adds support for the Hewlett-Packard DeskWriter* printer, when used with the new DeskWriter printer resource. The DeskWriter printer offers laser quality output (300dpi), fully scalable text and graphics and all the convenience only a personal printer can provide.

NEW DESKWRITER PRINTER RESOURCE

If you are using version A.01.00 of the DeskWriter printer resource, you need to upgrade to the current version of the DeskWriter printer resource for compatibility with SuperLaserSpool. SuperMac Technology is licensed to distribute the new DeskWriter printer resource by disk only and not via electronic bulletin board services. The DeskWriter printer resource is only available to DataFrame owners with the following upgrades.

-SuperLaserSpool 2.02df $20

-DataFrame Full Upgrade Package 2.0.3 $60
  (Manager 4.0.3 plus all Utilities)

Call Dept. 300 (408-773-4498) for an upgrade order form. All orders must be processed from an upgrade order form.
