One of the most annoying things about using a server based LAN for macintoshes has been the need for multi-user versions of NORMAL software, just to have multiple launch capabilities usually requires an upgrade from the vendor. An example is MS Word, ver 3.02 didn't multi-launch, 4.0 does. After a lot of playing with file attribute bits, I discovered that setting 'Shared' and 'Cached' to on will make any application multi-launchable. Is this bad? Has anyone else done this and had bad side effects? (Ignoring software liscencing (sp?), I've got multiple copies, the intent is to save space on the server). Is there a better way to do this? --Thanks -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- whelan@uhccux.uhcc.hawaii.edu | ee367016@wiliki.eng.hawaii.edu | This space intentionaly left blank whelan@nextcc1.uhcc.hawaii.edu |
