[comp.sys.mac] MacFacistii and the interface

a544@mindlink.UUCP (Rick McCormack) (02/24/90)

Okay, I came to this MAC world to do college courses. I am resigned to a 35
lb. "portable" that takes 3 mins to set up. I even like SOME of the mice
commands (I had mice on both my IBM's). But I just started using Wingz ...
gimmee a break!
Why did Wingz invent SIMPs (or whatever their column width measurement is?)?
I'm sure that it is SIMPS (SIMPLY IMPOSSIBLE MEASURING PROTOCOL), BUT WHY?
Ain't 72 points to the inch enough? And why do so many programs ignore the
fact that many users don't want to adjust every item on a page "by eye?" I can
think of several programs that cater to my needs to create a repeatable pattern
of elements on the page without jiggery-pokery... why not Wingz?
Or have I MISSED SOMETHING IMPORTANT?
Is there a protocol for setting column width in Wingz directly, i.e. set
columns b...m to 1.25 inches?
Thanks for any help.

Select Range A1..G1 (COMMAND RETURN)
Column Width 72 points (COMMAND RETURN)
Column Width 1.25 inch (COMMAND RETURN)
ETC...

[lotsa bitching about WingZ features deleted]

Yup. WingZ is not the Mac. And while we're at it, the Mac that weighs 35
pounds and takes 3 minutes to set up is not claimed to be portable. Sheesh.

You're welcome, I guess.

What's wrong with WingZ. It's the best MAC program I've ever used.

David neither said nor implied that there was anything wrong with Wingz. He
was mildly (and correctly) scolding a user for kvetching about the Mac when
the user was really mad at some behavior of Wingz. You are also right:
Wingz is indeed an adequate piece of software :-)

I have nothing against WingZ at all. But the previous poster doesn't like
it, and blames it on "MacFacistii" (sic). As I said before, sheesh.
