Having recently received the upgrade to TOPS and TOPS Spool, I was pleased to note that "TOPS Spool now works correctly with LaserWriter 6.0 ... and with PageMaker 3.02." Swell! 'Cept neither TOPS nor Aldus mention that this compatibility collapses if one has a Postscript printer with a font storage hard disk (for example, a LaserWriter II NTX or a Varityper VT-600). The fix, by the way, is to edit the Aldus Prep files. With that out of the way, you'd think everything would be perfect, right? Wrong! Something goes awry when TOPS Spool is active on a IIci running Multifinder. The DA won't come up, spooled files won't print, and the menu bar gets filled with garbage characters. All these problems go away when running under the Finder. I can't find my TOPS support brochure (I think I threw it at something while trying to track down the solution for the first problem -- anybody have TOPS' AppleLink address?), so does anyone know anything about this particular difficulty? thanks, -mike "just gimme my personal fileshare, apple, and i'll toss the darned tops . disks right into the trash " rose
