Does anyone out there know if the Unmouse input device is effective? I've seen ads for it, and it seems like a good idea. but is it actually better than a mouse. It advertises as haveing over 1 million points on the input device. which seems impressive. ira bye Ira Lee iradx7@pawl.rpi.edu ira@iear.arts.rpi.edu (518) 276-IRAS (718) 279-4814

I spoke with someone who is consulting for the company for a little while and asked him about this "UnMouse" They obviously use it and swear by it, but he did say it takes some getting used to. But there are several different configurations--the one I remember best is something like the pad is at a 1:1 ration with the screen, so where ever you touch--you have pointer. And then when your motion slows, magnification grows enough to give you very fine detailed motion. And I am sure all these things are adjustable, but that kind of setup seems the most logical and most advantageous. But then again, I have not used it yet... David V. This is true with any pointing device. I swear by my TurboMouse, but most people find it annoying to use (which keeps them off my machine). The UnMouse looks like a nice device. If it's anything like the touch pad on the old Apollo machines, I'll love it (though the Apollo touch pads went out of vogue very quickly). One question: Does the UnMouse have an ADB thru port on it? The TurboMouse does, which means that you can plug a mouse into it if you need both. I'd love to be able to have an UnMouse, a TurboMouse, and a standard mouse all available so I can "choose my weapon". -- David Elliott dce@smsc.sony.com | ...!{uunet,mips}!sonyusa!dce (408)944-4073 "...it becomes natural, like a third sense." -- Homer Simpson
