I just got my copy of Redux 1.61 today, but I haven't tried it yet. I will tonight and report on it (ease of use, etc.) tomorrow. I thought the latest version was 1.6. Does anyone know what the changes are in this version? --------------------------------------------------------------------------- John Price | Internet: jprice@uclapp.physics.ucla.edu 5-145 Knudsen Hall | BITNET: price@uclaph UCLA Dept. of Physics | DECnet: uclapp::jprice Los Angeles, CA 90024-1547 | YellNet: 213-825-2259 --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Where there is no solution, there is no problem.

A very obscure bug was found, unfortunately after it shipped. 1.62 is now the current version. If you have 1.61, you should automatically get 1.62 (and an app called 1.61 Fixer, for those who have already used 1.61) in the mail along with an apology and explanation of the problem. If you think you should have 1.62, but don't, call Microseeds, they'll be happy to fix you up. For those who are interested in the "gory details," as Microseeds put it, here they are, quoted from the sheet they sent out with 1.62: "The cause of the problem: If, during an incremental backup with Redux 1.61, a split file had changed and the last part of the split file was on a disk that also contained a file that needed to be updated, then Redux 1.61 backed up the last part of the split file but incorrectly noted its location in the BackupSet. (If you think that _sentence_ was confusing, be glad you weren't part of _testing_ for it!) "The solution to the problem: 1.61 Fixer forces every split file to be updated in an incremental backup. Fixer corrects the misinformation about the location of the last part of the split file. "If your hard disk crashes or you lose a file before you fix your BackupSet, we do have a utility that will dig your file out even if the BackupSet hasn't been fixed. If you need it, call Customer Support (813/882-8635) and ask for Restore 1.6x." --Adam-- -- Adam Frix via cmhGate - Net 226 fido<=>uucp gateway Col, OH UUCP: ...!osu-cis!n8emr!cmhgate!200.2!Adam.Frix INET: Adam.Frix@p2.f200.n226.z1.FIDONET.ORG
