A few months back some folks on the net wanted to know about software for the legal profession. Nisus version 2.1 has a new feature that places line numbers adjacent to the left of two vertical lines for the creation of a "pleading" page--a page numbering style that is commonly used for legal documents. Pleading pages are numbered every other line, even if the text is indented and single spaced. Nisus supports this style of numbering. The line numbers on the pleading page can be cross referenced as well, like all line numbering options in Nisus. There are a couple of existing features in Nisus that are ideal for legal word processing as well. The strike through style can be used for "red lining" text. You could create a "named" user style to do this and keep track of when something was "red lined" via a unique name assigned to the user style. With Nisus' powerful search and replace you could search out all of the "red lined" text and make it invisible. Searching for text can also be done in un-opened documents. And finally, there is an optional legal dictionary available in either a British or U.S. version. One more welcome feature in v2.1 is improved support for Word file formats: reading Word version 3 and 4, including footnotes, and writing Word version 3. Nisus v2.1 will begin shipping mid March, 1990. -jOn -------------------------------------------------------------------------- %% SoftwareEngineer: jOn mAtOUsEk; jon@weber.ucsd.edu %% Paragon Concepts, Inc. 990 Highland Drive, #312 Solana Beach, Ca. 92075 (619)481-1477 ========================================================================== The preceding posting, with all of its truths or otherwise, is due entirely to my mischievous undertakings and has nothing whatsoever to do with Paragon Concepts, Inc. ==========================================================================
