I've run into a problem in 4th Dimension - I can't seem to get the format for floating point numbers correct in and input layout. In one case I'm trying for a field like "$1.35" and in another case I need something like "12.5" No matter what I try everything seems to want to end up as whole numbers. In both cases the field type is "Real". I can't find any examples in the manuals, which means I'm probably not looking in the right place. I don't remember anything helpful in the tutorial - there were "real" fields, but the examples all used numbers with the fraction equal to ".00". I'd appreciate any help - perhaps a pointer into the manuals or and example of the display and entry filter formats for the above. Please reply by e-mail as this probably isn't of general interest. Thanks. -bill wlbrown@lbl.gov Disclaimer: These opinions are my own and have nothing to do with the official policy or management of L.B.L, who probably couldn't care less about employees who play with trains.
