I have been trying to find some printer drivers that allow the output to be directed to a file (PostScript seems to be the only output type that allows this). I had hoped that Freedom of the Press would let me say "Save the Tek 4693DX output to a file" but it seems it has to talk to the printer. Not everyone has the ability to "easily" connect printers to the Macintosh. Our Tek 4693DX is not conveniently close to allow this, and additionally, ethernet connection is not easy either. Why can't printer drivers allow the user to save the output to a file (like the cmd-f key for PostScript, or the Save As File check box)? Are they any drivers that provide this? I am extremely interested in a Mac App (like PowerPoint) to Tektronix 4693DX. I have asked this question in a different manner before, but all answers required connection to the printer. To repeat: I WANT A PRINTER DRIVER TO OUTPUT A 4693DX FILE SO I CAN MOVE THE FILE TO THE MACHINE THAT IS CONNECTED TO THE PRINTER. THEN I CAN PRINT IT (lpr it) -- Louis McDonald Internet: louis@aerospace.aero.org The Aerospace Corporation 213-336-8914
