[net.music] Re" The Beach Boys and Brain Wilson

I am not a Beach Boys fan, but saw a news story about Brian Wilson and
his death. This is what I gathered from it.

Brian Wilson was the original DRUMMER for the Beach Boys. He was the
one who gave the band their name. He quit the band and made a solo album
in '80 or '81. His reason for quitting was a lack of new material. He had
recently rejoined the band, but I don't know if he played with them last
summer or not...

Where do you get your information? I thought it was Dennis (the
drummer) Wilson who just died, not Brian. Although it was Brian who
left the group for a while. As a bit of trivia, I understand the
Dennis was the only Beach Boy who really surfed.

Hey folks, BRIAN Wilson was the creative force behind the Beach
Boys during their greatest period (1963-68), after which he began
drugging, vegging, and mantra-ing in and out of the real world.
He is, as far as I know, alive and as well as can be expected.
He is/was alos a KEYBOARD player.

DENNIS Wilson, the drummer and Brian's brother, is the one who
recently bought it in Marina Del Rey (which is a helluva place to die,
    if you ask me).

Lost on a surfin' safari, I remain
