I saw this on Applelink's 3rd party announcement board. I think it's of
use to many readers of this newsgroup; hence, the reposting. I don't know
anything more about the product, and of course Apple doesn't know, either.

NeoScribe Announces Additions to LaserPerfect(tm) Font Collection, Type 1
Format, Typographical Hints
Clinton, NY--March 13,1990 -- NeoScribe International Inc announced today
the addition of several new PostScript(r) fonts to its collection of
foreign scripts, utility fonts, and high-quality typography. The entire
collection of 27 packages will also be re-released under the Type 1
format, ensuring full compatibility with Adobe Type Manager.
"We have had much demand from customers for the hinting and
ATM-compatibility that is characteristic of Type 1 fonts," said Michael
Ross, president and chief typographer of the small electronic
typefoundry. "It seems to be an emerging standard. We are committed to
continually updating our highly-specialized products to the latest
technology." This will include offering Apple's True Type format at a
later date, Ross also announced. Both Type 1 and True Type technology
provide printing to non-PostScript output devices as well as better
screen display at large sizes.
The newly released LaserPerfect Fonts include:
* LP Arabic, an elegant, traditional Naskhi script. All consonants,
vowel points and diacritical marks necessary to type Modern Arabic, Urdu
(Pakistani) and Farsi (Persian) are included in the font, as are many
common ligatures. LP Arabic is used with a KCHR keyboard remapping
resource, which allows users of standard US System Software to access all
characters.
* LP CyrillicPlus, a square serif typeface which contains all the
characters necessary to typeset an impressive array of languages: Russian,
Ukranian, Byelorussian, Bulgarian, Macedonian, Moldavian, Azerbaijani,
Kazakh, Kirghiz, Tajik, Turkmen, Uzbek, and Mongolian. LP CyrillicPlus is
suitable for books, posters or advertising and comes in four styles:
roman, oblique, bold, and bold oblique.
* LP OCR-B, the second-generation optical character recognition typeface
which is used in numerous industries including the military, commercial
billing and invoicing, and financial institutions.
* LP FracStacked, a fraction construction set that allows the unlimited
use of stacked fractions in text without changing size or style. LP
FracStacked is provided in roman and bold, for both serif and sans-serif
type. It comes packaged with the previously released LP Fractions, a font
for building slashed fractions.
* LP Pinyin and LP VowelSounds, two fonts which include a variety of
diacritical marks. LP Pinyin aids in the roman transcription of the sounds
and intonations of Mandarin Chinese. LP Vowel Sounds is intended for use
in publications such as dictionaries and reading primers, which teach the
pronunciation of English.
* LP Turkish, LP Lithuanian, LP Czech and LP Polish, which include all
characters and accents required for writing these languages.
NeoScribe International Inc began marketing LaserPerfect Fonts in 1986 as
the first non-roman typefoundry for the Macintosh with its LP Hebrew.
Since that time, NeoScribe has been a pioneer in the world of PostScript
typography, introducing the first versions of Classical and Modern Greek,
Devanagari, phonetic, barcodes (including UPC) and OCR-A. It has also
made several classical roman typefaces available to the discriminating
Macintosh graphic designer, with such refinements as oldstyle numerals
and true-cut small caps.
LaserPerfect Fonts range in retail price from $59.95 to 149.95. All 27
packages are available immediately in Type 3 format for the Macintosh.
Type 1 versions will be released over the second quarter of 1990.
