[comp.sys.mac] My apologies...

minich@a.cs.okstate.edu (MINICH ROBERT JOHN) (03/22/90)

Let me formally apologize for the overly heated flame I posted a while
back w.r.t. Farallon's receiving patents to PhoneNet technology.
Apparently, these ARE the same people who came up with the original
article I referred to. My humble apologies to those people, and thanx
to those who sent me mail to set me straight.
I can't be all forgiving, though. I still think it would be A Good Thing
if Farallon left PhoneNET style connectors as an open standard. Better
yet, I'd like to see Apple make the concept of network even more a part
of the Mac through standard hardware built into as many Macs as
possible. I think it would be worthwhile to have EtherNet built into the
system boards of least new Mac II class machines. IMHO, it's a better
idea than built in video, which limits you to a couple possibilities for
monitors (where you want the MOST seletion) whereas ethernet, if done
well, isn't such a personal choice for it's users.

With my tail twixt my knees,
Robert Minich
