I am using FullWrite Profesional for all word processing tasks (letters and documents) under A/UX 2.0 and MacOS (haven't completely switched to A/UX yet) and basically think its a fine program, with 1 and a smidgen exceptions. The smidgen is the drawing program which is pretty crude, but my far bigger difficulity is with mail merge (or variables in FWP terminology). Basically you have to have a seperate file defining the content of the variables and then at print time you specify "merge with database" and specify that file via a dialog window. This would be fine for mass mailings but is a huge pain for my more common case of just one letter with an envelope, since you need (to generate) a seperate file for each address. I would really love a method of keeping an on-line address book data base (name, phone, company, home, as well as address) from which I could select one or more sets of names and addresses as the data base "file" to merge with on printing. FWP does allow a real data base to be used instead of a file but that seems like overkill for an address book and I don't know if it would help this case anyway. Does anyone know of such a tool? How do you all handle this issue? Is there a better way? -jrg -- internet jrg@apple.com John R.
