Alright I got all the files in the sw.license directory. THen I transfered them to my macIIcx and used stuffit to decode the hqx format and then the .sit format. When I tried to run diskcopy the program fails in various ways -- usually complains it can't load the finder. Sometimes it just returns to the finder without telling me anything. My system is a MacIIcx with a LaCie CDC drive formatted and driven with silverlining software. I have tried disabling all inits and multifinder etc... and it still fails. I even tried putting it on a floppy with a generic system and diskcopy still fails -- now it runs but when I say load image it says an error occurred and I should try again. Any ideas? tarr@cs.yale.edu

of troubles encountered trying to build 6.0.5 disks.
I am using an old MacII with an external Jasmine DD50. Early
Wednesday morning I downloaded all the files. Yesterday I converted
them all to a large folder in the DD50 containing the discopy program
and four image files. Today I ran the copier (under Multifinder 6.1b9
with System 6.0.4 and lots of inits) and made four disks from the
images with zero trouble. I then restarted from the new (locked)
System Tools 6.0.5 disk and installed 6.0.5 with zero trouble. It's
running fine now.
So I guess for pretty vanilla situations it should work just fine.

From rterry Thu Mar 22 18:43:34 1990 From: rterry@hpcupt1.HP.COM (Ray Terry) Subject: Bug isolated in DiskCopy v4.1 Newsgroups: comp.sys.mac The utility DiskCopy (Apple 3.5" Disk Duplicator, v4.1) that is used to convert the System 6.0.5 disk images available via anonymous ftp from apple.com has a very definite bug/incompatibility. DiskCopy cannot be launched from a hard disk that has been partitioned with Silverlining (v5.17 in my case). When DiskCopy is launched from a Silverling partitioned disk it bombs (ID=10, hangs, and/or tells you that the Finder is damaged or missing). Workaround = move DiskCopy to a non-Silverling partitioned disk and launch from there. All works fine then. Thanks to the others also having problems w/DiskCopy that helped me to finally isolate this bug.
