I have been considering getting rid of my Excel 2.2 in order to purchase Wingz. I have seen Wingz and the graphics are real neat if you have a color monitor. However, I am interested mainly for the improved interface and macro generation capability. I tend to use my spreadsheet extensively for a short period of time (ie. a single job) and then it sits for a while until I need it again. With Excel, that means I have to start all over again reading the !*&#$ manual! Has anyone been able to really compare these two spreadsheets for BASIC spreadsheet operations with SIMPLE graphics (ie. line and bar charts) that can give me some feedback? I have an SE so the slowness of the complex Wingz graphics I wouldn't use (ie. 3D multi bar charts, etc.). How does the speed of standard operations compare though? How much more intuitive (and "rememberable") is the basic spreadsheet and macro generation interfaces? Also, it seems that Wingz needs a little more memory to operate. How do they both compare under large data loads? What complaints does anyone have about Wingz? For a person with a 1 to 2 Mbyte standard MacSE and hard drive who would like a top end general purpose spreadsheet program for sometimes intensive numeric work, What would constitute problems with useing Wingz? Excel? Please note that I am mainly interested in COMPARISONS if possible from individuals who have worked with both products or who have worked with one and have studied the other. Any thoughts? -- Jeff Wiseman: ....uunet!tellab5!wiseman OR wiseman@TELLABS.COM
