[comp.sys.mac] Black Box

After a rather busy several months - I had sometime to play around with a few
of the binaries that have come across the net recently. I am always taken
with the effort that goes into the pd/shareware software that shows up. If
only I had the same talent.....

One I was looking forward to using - has given me a problem, which has most
likely been dealt with on the net already - but I would appreciate any sug-
gestions.

I installed Blackbox - on an SE/30 (4megs of RAM) with a Laserwriter NT. The
problem is that with Blackbox installed I can not print. I removed all other
cdevs, etc to ensure no conflicts existed, but it did not solve the problem.
Any suggestions - works around, or whatever would be greatly appreciated. I
really would like to use BlackBox.

Is there any way to reconcile the incompatibilities between Black Box 1.5
and White Knight 11.06? In particular, is it possible to configure the
two such that Black Box's screen saver doesn't kill White Knight's file
transfers? Any real responses are appreciated; I know that BB is fairly
volatile, so responses of the "Just don't do it" variety are of minimal value.

Also, of more general interest:
I started using Theorist the other day, I have to recommend it to anybody
who has repetitive mathematics to deal with. It's incredibly easy to use
(especially compared to Mathematica) and produces marvellous graphics. Of
course, it's not as fast as Mathematica, and it's symbolic math is more on par
with Milo than high-end products it claims to compete against. For students
and others who play with equations or otherwise need to include discussions of
functional analysis in written reports, this is definitely the best program out
there.

Thanks!
