Until my new hard drive arrives I have to continue to use a poor over-stressed 20MB NEC drive as the system/swap volume - it has been running very hard and warm for a while now and is starting to drop sectors, Disk Express told me this to my face. The question - how do I tell which files are on the affected sectors ? If, as I suspect, the driver should be replacing them, then why are they showing up ? Given that I can find the files, I am quite prepared to call them bad files, load new ones and not optimise again. Useful info: NEC 20MB ST-506 i/f drive, Adaptec non-RLL controller and SF&I - I know that this suboptimal for a swap drive ! John
