I would like to use a removeable drive as a backup device. My understanding is that many of these drives must be turned on in order for the machine to boot. (Ehman drives behave this way). I don't want the drive on all the time since I'll only be using it for backups. Are there any removeable drives that do not have to be on in order for the Mac to boot?
