The thing you need to do is to make certain that the font family numbers are the same on both machines. ResEdit can help, or simply remove the fonts from the target machine and copy them back from the source machine IN TWO SEPARATE STEPS. A workaround is to always transport the document files between machines in RTF format. Another step to take, though there isn't a prayer of it helping, is to bitch loudly and long at Microsoft for PURPOSELY DEVIATING from Apple's published guidelines. A YEAR before version 4 Word came out, Apple recommended to all developers that applications remember fonts by name and not number. Aldus immediately reissued PageMaker, but Microsoft thought they were above such petty things as user convenience. I have stopped purchasing and recommending Microsoft products because of this corporate-wide policy of theirs. This isn't the only case where they have had a major negative impact on the Mac user interface simply because of their stubbornness. A lot of the confusion about font names can be traced to their doorstep too. -Brian -- -Brian Diehm Tektronix, Inc. (503) 627-3437 briand@tekig5.PEN.TEK.COM P.O.
