(This is my second try at this message. I'm sorry if it is a duplicate.) Hi all, I have a friend that runs a buisness. They have a MAC II, a MAC Plus, an expanded 512K and a MAC IIcx with Apple's Portrait monitor. The problem is if they print a document to their Laser Writer from the IIcx, The letters of the text are spaced closer together than if it were printed on any of the other three machines. They have also tried printing on other machines around town and their IIcx is the only one that has a problem. They have also tried their IIcx on another Laser Writer with the same results. They also said it happens from various applications. (Like Quark Express,Pagemaker and a few others I can't remember because I'm an IBM users.) They have replaced the System Files, Laser driver and all the fonts but that didn't help. 1. Has anyone seen this problem and know how to fix it? 2. Have any idea what controls this? (Control panel, Monitor set-up, or jumpers on monitor card?) 3. Have any ideas how to islolate problem? 4. Do you need more information to understand the problem? Below is a fragment of POSTSCRIPT code created by Pagemaker. These were entered by hand from a print out so there may be typos. MAC II Version: %%EndProcSet %%EndProlog AldusDict2 begin 3300 2550 false false false BEGJOB 300 SETRES 25000 S_WORKING save /SUsv exch def %%Page: 1 1 BEGPAGE SURSTR (Palatino-Bold) FTRECODE SUSAVE /|_____Palatino-Bold 48 100 mul 200 div 2000 16 0 SET 991 702 0.0000 0.0000 (This is a test) 14 3 569 OUT ENDPAGE ENDJOB MAC IIcx Version: %%EndProcSet %%EndProlog AldusDict2 begin 3300 2550 false false false BEGJOB 300 SETRES 25000 S_WORKING save /SUsv exch def %%Page: 1 1 BEGPAGE SURSTR (Palatino-Bold) FTRECODE SUSAVE /|_____Palatino-Bold 48 100 mul 200 div 1800 16 0 SET 991 702 18.9385 0.0000 (This is a test) 14 3 569 OUT ENDPAGE ENDJOB Notice in line 13 one says "2000" and the other says "1800" line 14 says "0.0000" and the other says "18.9385" I don't know why they different, but I assume that's the problem. None of the dealers know what the problem is and they want to swap out memory chips and PC boards. Thanks in advance.
