I recently picked up a small utility from the net called Cache Control which is supposed to turn on the instruction and data caches on 68020 and 030 processors. I've been trying it out on my Mac II and it really seems to speed things up but I've been having some weird problems. For example, with Multifinder running, Microsoft Word 4.0 unexpectedly quits when trying to re-initialize the LaserWriter, but this doesn't happen if I take CacheControl out of my system folder and restart. Has anyone else had any problems? I'd really like to use it since it does speed things up, but I'm beginning to wonder if maybe there is a particular reason why something like it isn't part of the system software.
