Hi Net, We have just had an outbreak of nVIR (pretty funny for a Medical Research Institute), and I had some observations and questions. 1) It only appeared to infect applications and system files (system, finder) Is that all ? 2) What does it do ? The first I noticed was that the Mac 'binged' at me on start-up. The files appeared reasonably ok, even though there had been disks infected for about a month. Mail or post, I read both. ...aTdHvAaNnKcSe -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jon Eaves Walter and Eliza Hall Institute for Medical Research. Sorry if this has been done to death but I can't find any references to the problem anywhere. A "friend" has a Mac Plus with system 6.0.2 infected with nVIR and I want to find out how to remove it. Using VirusDetective or ResEdit to just remove the resources results in the infected application or System becoming unusable - is there any cure apart from just rebuilding from backups? I seem to remember seeing a posting some time ago which summarised all the known viruses and their effects - could someone mail this to me if they have it please. Thanks, Jeremy Huxtable.
