I hate the thought of having a backup but no way to restore. Essentially, then, I have to pay the shareware fee anyway to take a full look at how the program does things. I hope the author has a money-back guarantee. Just being able to use the backup side of the software doesn't give the user enough information to decide whether he wants it or not. Nevertheless, I agree, it's a fascinating method.
