[comp.sys.mac] 6-Page Word file over 1/2Meg!

It sounds like you've done a lot of editing on this document.  By default,
Word uses "Fast Save", which saves only the changes to a document at the
end of the file.  In day to day editing, this is much faster then rewriting
the entire file.  To save the file without all of the changes you've made,
do File/Save As... and turn off Fast Save.  You only have to do this once;
the file should go down in size.  If you find the file getting too
large again, you can repeat this procedure.  If you don't like Fast Save,
you can turn it off, but you will notice a difference with large files.
