For those who noted my note a week ago about weird behavior, "can't load needed resource" messages, sporadic bombs especially involving menu item selection, especially involving da's...I seem to have fixed it. The problem was in a chunk of da's installed in a particular suitcase file that was apparently written to a bad chunk of disk media. The mac was extremely confused about the size of this particular suitcase (varying from 10K to 4.4 Meg...), and apparently Suitcase tried to deal with it but couldn't. Thus the occasional failure to boot, and occasional bombs with da's--those particular da's ALWAYS bombed. So I replace them with clean copies, mapped out bad sectors, and boom! Back in business....Now my power supply is beginning to go.... ------- Josh Hayes, Zoology Department, Miami University, Oxford OH 45056 voice: 513-529-1679 fax: 513-529-6900 miamiu.bitnet (good) / jahayes@-miamiu.acs.muohio.edu (also good) c miavx1.acs.muohio.edu (not so good) Disclaimer: You can believe me, because I never lie, and I'm always right.
