[comp.sys.mac] Watch out for Ehman ...

pdel@deimos.ADS.COM (Peter Delevoryas) (04/05/90)

Hm, the same thing happened to me a while back. I ordered a drive, and after
a week I called and they said that 'so many people have ordered, we got
behind.'  I cancelled.

Told you all so, 'way back when, after Boston MacWorld. They lie about
their warranties. They advertise 2 years; BMUG (thanks!) pointed out that
on the important bit, it's only a year. The salesgirl in Boston had clearly
been instructed to lie about this, and only changed her story when I let her
know I knew the truth. MicroTech has 5 years; they stink on other counts,
but I'm glad I went with them rather than Ehman.

---------------------
I had a similiar problem with Ehman. Three times they told me "It's in
the mail" and once they said "It came in today, it will go out tomorrow."

It finally arrived, TWENTY DAYS after I placed my "2nd DAY AIR" delivery.
By the time it arrived, at least three other companies in "MacUser" had
dropped their prices to around $25 less than Ehman.

In Summary:    1) If you want sale's people you can trust;
               2) If you want reliable "2nd DAY AIR" delivery;
           or 3) If you want the lowest prices around

               DON'T BUT FROM EHMAN

Speaking of the Ehman removable drives, I have been considering
getting one. Does anyone know if the're fast and reliable enough to
use as my primary drive? I now have a 45meg internal in my SE that`s
thinking about heading south. I would like to have someting I could
expand (as software always grows to fill available disk space), and
not have to replace every 12 to 15 months (read that as 'another
victim of Jasmines` wonderful worthless warrenty'). Any suggestions
or recommendations, folks?
