Why does MacWrite II have these annoying problems? What are they? What causes them? Help? I apologize if these have already been discussed at length, but I don't always have time to read this group so I may have missed the discussion. 1) The infamous "document will be reflowed" error, appending pages upon pages to the end of the document. I have one document here which, after reflowing, crashes when one approaches the end of the document. The cure was to copy the text into another file using copy and paste. 2) Imagewriter printing: macwrite II documents occasionally seem to screw around with the imagewriter, so that in the middle of the document (I have seen this happen, honest!), the left margin decides to move over an inch or so. Today I had one document which was so persistent in doing this that I had to save it as Word 3 and load it into word in order to print. This was a three page document that didn't seem to have anything unusual about it...the only formatting in the whole thing was one centering command. The only way to fix the printer when this happens is to switch it off and on. (we're using the AppleShare print spooler on a network of SE's, Imagewriters, and Mac II servers. We're running system 6.0.4, regular finder, no ATM.) 3) Sometimes MacWrite seems to wipe out someone's document altogether. A number of people here have seen competent users hit save and suddenly have their entire document erased both from memory AND FROM DISK! I can't be imagining things, can I? What's happening? -Sonja Oh, interesting tidbit: We discovered yesterday that MacWrite 5 is not compatible with the Mac Portable and the Mac IIci; when one attempts to use the spelling checker to check the document, the document is erased. According to the technical library on AppleLink, this has to do with an incompatibility with System 6.0.4. It said Claris won't be updating the software to work on these machines. -----------------------------Sonja Kueppers------------------------------ |SEK@PSUVM (bitnet) | Center for Academic Computing | |SEK@PSUVM.psu.edu | Student Consultant - Lab Attendant| |SEK%PSUVM@psuvax1.uucp | Help Desk Consultant (12 Willard) | -------------------------------------------------------------------------
