I'm sure this topic may have been raised before in this forum, but I am new to the group & would appreciate any help. My FDHD drive in my Mac 11cx sometimes tells me that my attempts at initialization have failed. Yet I can take the same disk, swing over to my DOS machine and format it perfectly! I've even heard of a couple of cases where [people have been using a correctly formatted disk, only to have the drive tell them it is an unreadable disk and do they want to format it, etc. - thereby losing all of their data. In other words, the disk becomes unreadable. Questions: 1) What causes this 2) Any "fixes" out there

What brand of disks are you using? I've heard that some people have solve their problems by switching brands.
