I have a problem with my serial port(s) that I hope someone can help with. I took my Mac IIcx to be repaired because of a problem with the floppy drive (system was not recognizing the insertion of a disk). The technician replaced the logic board and said things tested OK. I got the machine home, hooked up my modem and printer, and discovered the modem would not work. It would recognize my commands but nothing was printed on the screen. I switched the modem to the printer port, re- configured the terminal program to that port, and every- thing worked. I assumed that the modem serial port was bad and returned the machine for a second time for repair. The technician said the serial ports all checked out but replaced the logic board again. Home again, the same problem - modem fails on modem port (loopback test fails too), switch modem to printer port, reconfigure to that port, and now it works. Does anyone have any ideas? BTW: The printer FAILS on the modem port just like the modem. Bill Burrows burrows@milton.acs.washington.edu
