This is NOT intended as a flame, merely a peaceful request. Please stop posting 'My Amiga/Atari/PC/UNIX-box/NeXT/etc is better than your Mac' messages to this newsgroup. I realize each of you think your machine is the best, or at least has some great feature which puts the Mac to shame. I will even concede that I must agree with some of those complaints - there are several 'features' of several computers that do (IMHO) outperform the Mac IN THOSE AREAS. Each person has their own idea of exactly what they'd like to see in their dream computer. Unfortunately, many people have different (and frequently, conflicting) preferences, and even a single person can often find conflicts in his/her own desires when dealing with radically different applications of the computer. I don't mind some constructive criticism - I'm sure there are many improvements that could be made to *ALL* OSes. What I ***DO*** object to is the large volume of recent posts that simply contain 'Gee - _MY_ OS does that. Why don't you by a XXXXX and get rid of your worthless Mac?' or the like. If you have something you feel might be helpful to improving the Mac, please feel free to say it. (Preferably in a nice way) However, since this is comp.sys.mac (and comp.sys.mac.misc), I would ^^^ appreciate it if your posts contained something relating to that computer. Thanks. (Stepping off the soapbox now...) -- John DISCLAIMER: I do not intend to represent the opinions of the others reading this newsgroup. These are MY complaints; if you have something to say, reply to me and DON'T clutter up the net. =============================================================================== | John T. I say let free speech reign. Fanatic comments by computer zealots make entertaining reading and are fully in line with the spirit of USENET. Remember, these are *opinions*, not facts. This group is not refereed. I thing the popularity of the Mac is due, in large part, to a group of people who are fanatically crazy about the Mac and are involved in an ongoing crusade of computer holy war. So if machine bragging belongs anywhere it belongs here. Me, I like all computers. Some are just more quaint than others. -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------ | Len Saaf, The Institute of Optics, Univ. of Rochester, Rochester, NY | | Internet: saaf@joker.optics.rochester.edu Bitnet: SAAF@UOROPT | ------------------------------------------------------------------------
