6.04/6.1 1/4 1/4

Where 1 = Best system software for the hardware model
2 = Fine to use with hardware model
3 = Fine to use with AppleShare
4 = Best system tofor use with AppleShare 2.01 (use the Installer)

Like I said before, these are Apples recommendations. Of course you
would use system 6.0.5 with a IIfx.

hmmm, that's almost a trick question.

until recently i used the system 6.0.2 package on my mac II. when
apple made system 6.0.5 publicly available i switched with no
increase in unfriendly behavior (i.e. i haven't noticed more crashes).
i believe apple intends that their latest system software be used
used uniformly on all macintoshes, for various reasons. however,
for various other reasons, you may not feel the need to upgrade
unless there was something in the new package that wasn't available
in the old. for me, that was 32-bit color quickdraw which i was
curious about.

question: where does one go for info on the DeskTop Manager init?

Overall, Apple suggests that System 6.0.4 and Finder 6.1 be used for all
Macintoshes except the Mac IIfx and the Macintosh Portable. Those two
machines should use System 6.0.5 and Finder 6.1.5.

Don't they recommend that people with 512(Ke) or 128K Macs use a System/Finder?
