This is from a letter Apple sent out on May 12, 1989 announcing upgrades
and new products.

This is very interesting.  I used 3.2/5.3 on my 512e for years since that's
what I'd read was the correct version.  Eventually I got tired of not having
any of those neat inits and cdevs and switched to System 4.2/Finder 6.0.
Have used that for about a year with not observable problems.  Actually
my choice was somewhat arbitrary since I just dug through as many old disks
as I could find until I came up with something from what I guessed was
about the right era :-)
